ITB continue to receive new students through the National Selection Sign in Higher Education Affairs (SNMPTN). This selection system is a system of entrance examinations conducted public universities nationally, by a central committee in Jakarta, who was appointed by the Council of Rectors of State University of Indonesia (MRPTNI). This mechanism will be implemented in early July 2010. Purpose of conducting the National Selection of State University is to choose a new candidate who has the academic ability to attend and complete university education in accordance with the established deadlines. Implementation of the National Selection of State University also does not reduce the authority of their respective universities to conduct their own selection. Selection is done by a written exam pattern.
Activities of the National Selection of State University is a selection of prospective students to enter universities at the national level with the pattern of written test and a test of special skills for a specific study program. The implementation was carried out by a selection committee formed by the Centralized State University Rector Assembly of Indonesia (MRPTNI) and placed in strategic cities where universities are located.
Written test held in the framework of the National Selection of State Universities will be held simultaneously and integrated at the same hour and day, with about the same in the various state university in Indonesia, so that participants are expected to choose the location closest to the facilitation of such selection. Place the test is not a material consideration in the selection process and the determination of a prospective student graduation at public universities are chosen.
